Genentech is expanding access to oncology and ophthalmology clinical research in the U.S. through the Advancing Inclusive Research (AIR) Site Alliance. With new and expanded relationships including more clinical research centers, we creating more inclusive clinical studies and broadly sharing best practices for patient-centered solutions that can scale across all clinical studies.

In 2023, the AIR Site Alliance expanded to include two additional ophthalmology sites – Charles Retina Institute in Germantown, TN and Brown Retina Institute in San Antonio, TX. Specifically, the six oncology sites have achieved a patient population that is 81% more diverse compared to their study peers. They are also the sole recruiters of Black and/or Hispanic/Latinx patients in 20% of the studies they participate in.

We collaborated with the AIR Site Alliance to create an award-winning video (translated into eight languages) entitled What is a Clinical Research Study? that provides patients with a clear understanding of a clinical study, with a strong emphasis on representation and inclusion.
